Our Story

Sugar Shack has been in the family since the 1960s. It was opened by his great grandmother in a storefront on the corner of Grand River and Pennsylvania avenues on Lansing's north side, where she served breakfast, donuts, pies and lunch sandwiches.

After  his great grandmother retired, Sugar Shack closed. But in 2009, when he moved back to Lansing after living in New York for 16 years, he decided it was time to relocate and reopen the family eatery.

His Sugar Shack, 215 N. Clippert St., focuses simply on serving gourmet baked goods. The menu includes cupcakes, brownies, cookies and custom pies — some cookies and pie crusts can be made gluten-free.
